It has been observed that expired medicines are sold illegally in Pakistan in order to make money illegally. Sellers of expired medicines are playing with the health of buyers and providing diseases to them.

Government makes no efforts to imprison or punish irresponsible sellers who sell expired medicines with impunity. They are responsible for many deaths due to the intake of expired medicines. Such medicines are dangerous and a menace to people’s health.

Sadly, medical stores are not checked regularly in Pakistan even though each month more than 500 people die and fall ill due to taking expired medicines. When people lodge an FIR against an irresponsible seller, police raid only that store instead of checking all medical stores.

The government should seal all medical stores where expired medicines are sold.

Moreover, irresponsible sellers are reported to have joined hands with criminals and are given expired expensive medicines at cheap prices. That is why shopkeepers are willing to sell expired medicines in order to earn more money.

While medicines should cure people who are ill, expired medicines become a great cause of killing and harming people.

In addition, in neighbouring countries medical stores are monitored each day. If a person sells expired medicines, he/she will be imprisoned and punished for a long time.

I request the government and authorities concerned to monitor all medical stores regularly and punish the criminals who sell expired medicines illegally in order to make lots of money.
