KARAK, Dec 14: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kohat range, Masood Khan Afridi on Wednesday directed Karak police to arrest the two police officials over the killing of the alleged gang rape victim’s brother, Alamzeb Khattak.

He also ordered a fresh inquiry into the killing before tasking DSP Mir Chaman Khan with it.

The directions were issued during a visit of the DIG along with investigation team to the Alamzeb killing site at Takht-i-Nusrati and the house of the alleged rape victim.

Balqasim Jana, the girl’s mother, complained to the DIG about negligence of former SHO Takht-e-Nusrati Haji Rehman and also alleged that constable Sohail of the police station provided pistol to the accused to kill Alamzeb.

The DIG ordered the arrest of the two police officials.

Also on the woman’s complaint that investigation officers Mohammad Nawaz and Wali Sher took the accused, ASI Hakeem Shah, to the court in a private vehicle, the DIG suspended the two on the spot.

The DIG directed DSP Mir Chaman Khan to complete inquiry into the matter and produce a report within three days.

He asked SHO Takht-i-Nusrati Yousaf Khan to arrest the alleged prime accused in the Alamzeb killing, Ibrahim Shah, within two days and said in case of his failure to make the sought-after arrests, the SHO would dealt with strictly.

The DIG also reviewed security checks in the area and directed Karak police to improve them for protection of the alleged rape victim’s family.

He assured the alleged rape victim’s family that transparent investigation would be made into the killing and sexual assault cases.
