RAWALPINDI, July 30: A young man who was allegedly tortured by his employer died in the emergency ward of Benazir Bhutto Hospital on Saturday.

Mohammad Attique, who worked in a grocery shop in Bohar Bazaar, had been accused by his employer Mohammad Uzair of stealing money. Attique was detained in the shop for several days and tortured by Uzair and another person Mohammad Khurram for many days, the police said.  The victim, in his statement, said he was tortured by his employer for the theft he had never committed. He was released from detention on July 22 when his condition deteriorated.

Attique was hospitalised last Wednesday as he complained of severe pain in his kidneys. He was treated in the BBH for over four days but could not survive. Investigation Officer SI Rana Akbar confirmed that the victim had been tortured which claimed his life. However, no arrests have been made by the police so far.
