A hallmark of history

Published April 8, 2011

In Lahore, if you can make it through the thick traffic and throngs of people - you'll find yourself in a city that is brimming with historical romance. The Shahi Qila is one such magnificent piece of history in this beloved city. If you visit the majestic Fort, be sure to take a guided tour with one of the many tour guides, who will enrich your experience with historical facts and the tall tales that have come to surround the Shahi Qila. Some say the Qila used to have underground passages dug all the way to Delhi in India, so the royal family could flee unnoticed. The underground tunnels have caved in and are now closed to the public. –(Text and photographs by Maliha Aqueel)
