HARIPUR, March 1: Two persons, including a PML-N activist, were shot dead here on Monday evening.

Police said Malik Shafaqat, belonging to PML-N and also former head of local zakat committee, was on his way home after closing his fruit shop when some unknown assailants ambushed him at a desolate place in his village Said Pur Tofkian, injuring him critically.

He was taken to Khanpur civil hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The Khanpur police have registered case against unknown attackers.

Another man was murdered in the jurisdiction of Kotnajibullah police station. The murder of Chanzeb Khan of Kotha Pir Kot village, a driver by profession, led to blockade of GT road near Sera-i-Saleh and Panian Chowk for over an hour.

Chanzeb Khan was hired by some unknown men to take them to Chajian village, some 35km from here on his Suzuki pick-up. However, after some time the area people spotted his body on Ghumawan road.

His family and villagers said he was shot dead by three brothers Misri Khan, Arif Khan and Mohammad Khan of the same village.

The accused had allegedly shot dead three persons including a cousin, father-in-law and brother-in-law of Chanzeb in 2007 and were declared as absconders by the police that had failed to arrest them after lapse of three years.

Chanzeb's family said the victim had informed the local police about the presence of absconders two days back but the police leaked the information to the killers who resultantly shot Chanzeb dead. ROAD ACCIDENT:
