Four killed in road accident
CHAKWAL, Feb 13: Four passengers were killed and more than ten were injured in a head-on collision of two passenger vehicles on Talagang-Mianwali road here on Sunday.
According to details, a pick up (RPT 3248) was going to Bhagtal village when it collided with a bus (JB 8186) which was coming from Daira Ismail Khan. Resultantly, four passengers died on the spot while as many as ten received injuries. Those who died were identified as Javed, Nawab Khan, Allah Yar and Jameel. The injured were rushed to the tehsil headquarters hospital. Five critically wounded passengers were shifted to Rawalpindi.

ATTOCK, Feb 13: A robbery victim identified four alleged dacoits including the gang leader during an identification parade held here in district jail on Sunday.
The four dacoits were involved in one million rupees robbery at the house of Afzal Ahmed, sources said. The robbers were identified as gang leader Masood Khalid, resident of Attock city, Muhammad Azeem, Muddasir Hussain and Hassan Mumtaz, residents of Satrah village of Sialkot district.
The gang of four robbers was arrested by Attock police on Jan 31.
They looted cash, jewellery and other valuables worth one million rupees from the house of a local resident Afzal Ahmed at Mohallah Awan Sharif on Jan 10 after making all the inmates hostage at gunpoint.—Correspondent
6 booked in land transfer case
ATTOCK, Feb 13: The Anti-Corruption Department registered a fraud case against six persons, including a Patwari, in a land grabbing case.
Circle officer of the department Shuakat Shah said 15 kanals state land in Hazro tehsil worth Rs900 million was illegally transferred a year back in the names of four brothers - Qamarul Islam, Tanveerul Islam, Nadeemul Islam and Saiful Islam - allegedly by Patwari Ali Asghar and record keeper district revenue office Masood Akhtar by tampering with the revenue record.
Preliminary inquiry initiated by the department found the transfer of the land illegal. As a result, the anti-corruption station Attock registered a case against all the six persons.
Mr Shah said the accused Patwari, Ali Asghar, had already been arrested on the charge of illegally transferring 22 kanals of a mosque in Attock.—Correspondent
Robber shoots himself
CHAKWAL, Feb 13: A robber was killed by his own bullet near here on Saturday night, sources told Dawn.
A robber namely Liaquat Ali hired a mini truck on Saturday late evening. On way to Manikpur village of tehsil Kalar Kahar, he called his other four accomplices. Soon the four armed persons came on the road and stopped the truck. They tied the driver and conductor with ropes and took the vehicle away while two robbers stood guard at the driver and the conductor.
The tied driver and conductor managed to untie the ropes and tried to run away. Liaquat Ali with his accomplice tried to stop them while his gun went off accidentally which hit his stomach.
Resultantly, he died on the spot. His other accomplice ran away. Kalar Kahar police reached the spot and shifted the body of the alleged dacoit to the hospital for autopsy. The police registered a case and started further investigation.—A Correspondent
