LAHORE: The Lahore High Court directed the former federal minister of religious affairs, Hamid Saeed Kazmi to appear before Islamabad High Court for further prosecution of Haj corruption case, and accepted his ‘security bail before arrest’ here Friday.

Kazmi was in hiding since the FIA issued his arrest warrant yesterday, the agency had been carrying out raids in different parts of the country for his arrest.

The former Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati and Kazmi had entered a verbal bout, blaming each other of corruption during the Hajj operations, and were both sacked by the Prime Minister Gilani in December last year.

Earlier today however, Kazmi plead to LHC for “bail before arrest’ through Advocate Khurram Lateef Khosa. The former minister stated in his application that although he was ready to face the trial, but required security bail before arrest.

The Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry accepted Kazmi’s security bail and directed him to appear before IHC for further action. – DawnNews
