DADU, Nov 28: An armed clash during an attempt by eight men to kidnap a girl from Kotai village near Radhan late Saturday night caused the death of one of the kidnappers. Two villagers were injured.

The armed men led by Alloo Machhi barged into house of farmer Shaman Machhi and tried to kidnap his 18-year-old daughter Fehmida. Her relatives put up a resistance during which Meeral Mirbahar was killed and two brothers of the girl, Yaqoob and Ali Murad, were injured. The kidnappers, however, succeeded in taking away the girl with them.

A villager, Sono Solangi, died of cardiac arrest during the incident.

DPO of Dadu Javed Soonharo Jiskani told Dawn that the kidnapping was linked to a matrimonial dispute. He said that police were after the kidnappers. He said that Meeral was wanted in 18 cases.
