ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Thursday nominated former law minister and PML-Q Senator Dr Khalid Ranjha to represent the bar in the seven-member Judicial Commission (JC).

Dr Ranjha’s name was recommended by the PBC after holding a ballot in which he defeated renowned jurist Fakhruddin G Ebrahim by four votes.

Eighteen members of the executive committee of the PBC participated in the polls. Dr Ranjha fetched 11 votes while Mr Ebrahim could bag only seven votes.

With the election of Dr Ranjha the composition of the seven-member JC has completed.
