KARACHI, Aug 14 The rail link of Balochistan with the rest of the country was severed on Saturday as floodwaters inundated railway tracks in Jacobabad.

Due to the flood situation, the route of the Pakistan Railway's Bolan Mail that goes to Quetta from Karachi was also cut short and the train is now going up to Shikarpur only, sources said.

Bolan Mail had left the city for Quetta on Saturday.

This is the second time in the past couple of weeks that the railway link between Quetta and the rest of the country had been cut off, as previously trains used to go up to Jacobabad only due to floods in Balochistan. The rail link was restored later.

Karachi Divisional Superintendent Aftab Memon and the railway's spokesperson Kamran Saeed could not be contacted for their versions despite repeated attempts.

A flood emergency has been declared in Naseerabad after train service between Quetta and the rest of the country was suspended following sinking of the rail track in Dera Allahyar, PPI adds.

It said that all trains were stopped at Jacobabad and in order to cope with the situation, fresh contingents of Pakistan Army had arrived in Dera Murad Jamali to launch rescue and relief activities.
