KARACHI, April 5 Fahad Shah starred with the ball to help Dawn Media Group inflict a crushing 85-run defeat on Group M Pakistan Ltd in the 1st Media Cricket Premier League at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground here on Sunday.

Medium-pacer Fahad grabbed five wickets for just 14 runs in his four-over quota as Group M Pakistan Ltd struggled to 118-8 in their allotted 20 overs. Fahad was well supported by skipper Anzar Yousuf who claimed 3-22 with his leg-spinners.

Earlier, Dawn Media Group posted 204-4 after winning the toss and opting to bat first. The highlights of their innings being a fine knock of 72 from opening batsman Owais Ahsan.

In the other match played at the same venue, Synergy CC scored a four-wicket success against ATV CC.

ATV CC, batting first, made 137-7 with Babar Agha contributing 42.

Synergy CC, in reply, won with just two deliveries to spare by scoring 140-6. Opener Aftab Ahmed (35) and Abdul Rehman (36 not out) were the main run-getters.

Off-spinner Abid Athar took two for 22.
