SWABI, Dec 15 The bodies of a runaway couple were found in the hills near Topi here on Monday.

Police said one Amjad Ali and a woman had eloped two weeks ago. They belonged to the Batakara locality, about 25 kilometres from the district headquarters.

The Topi police were informed by the people of Matoona and Shaheedan areas that decomposed bodies of a man and a woman were lying in the hills near Topi. Police recovered the bodies and registered a case.

Officials said wild animals and birds of prey had eaten on some parts of the bodies.

CAR-LIFTER HELD A car-lifter wanted to the Punjab and NWFP police in various cases was arrested by the Topi police here on Monday.

Police said Mir Akbar, who hailed from Baja region, was driving a car when he was stopped at the Pehur police post at the Haripur-Swabi boundary. The car the man was droving had been lifted from the Hazro region of Punjab in 2007.

He was also wanted to Kalu Khan, Swabi, Yar Hussian and Chota Lahor police stations in various cases.
