KARACHI KESC has miserably failed in translating into reality its own announced pledge of not resorting to load shedding in the night, as prolonged power breakdown in this sizzling heat proved unbearable for the citizens, who loosing tempers came out on the streets and staged violent protests.

The enraged citizens at Malir 15 against unannounced load shedding went on a rampage, which hampered all traffic to Karachi on the National Highway. Police and Rangers on information reaching the scene resorted to aerial firing and hurled teargas shells in a bid to control the violent mob. Meanwhile, the infuriated citizens of Rafah-e-Aam Society ransacked the KESC local office, KESC staffs were thrashed in Lines Area, while in several other areas of the city the vexed people voiced slogans against the KESC management, burnt tyres and blocked the roads, which included Federal B Area, Korangi, North Karachi, Nazimabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulbahar.

Citizens told that besides the usual 6/8 hours of announced load shedding, the sudden breakdowns and intermittent power outage in the night have sapped all their patience as they had to pass sleepless nights besides their academic and professional activities have also gone haywire.
