The polling was held in a peaceful manner as members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) elected six representatives. Eight members would be inducted into the council from federal ministers.

Strict security arrangements had been made on the occasion.

Elections are being held on the patron of Senate as the Gilgit-Baltistan Council is the supreme legislative body of the region and is head by the prime minister.

GB ADMIN GBLA members have said that the administrative system of the region needed to be overhauled so that people could get benefits of the newly elected government.

During session of the house here, Speaker Wazir Baig agreed to the suggestion of the members, saying that the assembly had power of making legislations so the members ought to participate in the house business.
