MITHI, Aug 16 Linguists should carry out a comprehensive research to comprehend the diversity of dialects of Sindhi language, Sindh being the cradle of ancient history, culture, civilisation and language.

This was stated by Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) chairperson Dr Fehmida Hussain at a seminar 'Linguistic Geography of Thar and its Dialects' held at the press club here.

She said Thar was a land of rich culture and history.

People living in Mohrano, Samroti, Kantho, Khaore, Waat and Dhat, spoke different dialects of Thari or Dhatki differing in pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary.

“Thar is a citadel of peace; its residents are hospitable, tranquil and courteous with a distinct language, culture and rituals,” she said, adding that the soil of Thar had given birth to writers, intellectuals and other individuals of high calibre.

Taj Joyo said the SLA was trying to promote Sindhi language and publishing books based on research.

Presenting a paper on the 'Scope and Importance of Dhatki Language', Bharumal said that alphabets should be developed for correct pronunciation and etymology of the language.
