PESHAWAR, May 8: Two policemen, a woman and a terrorist were killed and another terrorist arrested with a suicide vest during an encounter in Rasheed Garhi area on Wednesday evening.

According to an official, terrorists hurled grenades at police when they launched an operation in the locality.

Elite Force personnel Misbahullah of Mian Gujar and Wahab Ali of Mashogagar, Badbher, were killed and a woman and a child injured. The injured were taken to the Lady Reading Hospital.

The police official said an injured intending suicide bomber had been arrested and he had identified himself as Saadat Khan.

City police chief Liaquat Ali Khan told reporters that another suicide bomber had blown himself up in a house, killing a woman.

He said the terrorist had forced his way into the building after attacking police, but detonated his suicide vest after police surrounded the house.

He said the operation had been completed but efforts to arrest outlaws in the area would continue.

He said two suspects had been arrested during the operation and were being interrogated.

The official said the terrorists wanted to sabotage the elections, but police had foiled the attempt.

He said information had been collected about the owner of the house where the terrorist had taken shelter, but it was yet to be confirmed if he was a member of the group or a hostage.

He said police had faced difficulties in the operation because of darkness and removal of debris of the house had been started to retrieve the bodies.
