JHAL MAGSI: Unknown assailants targeted the election convoy of Amir Aziz Kurd, the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for NA-267, in Balochistan's Jhal Magsi region on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.

Kurd was travelling in Jhal Magsi when gunmen opened fire on his convoy near Gandawah, leaving four party workers severely injured.

The wounded workers were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital.

Following the incident, police cordoned off the site of the attack and started a search operation to apprehend the assailants.

No arrests had been made until the filing of this report.

Earlier on Tuesday, five persons were killed during exchange of fire between two tribal groups in Jhal Magsi according to Levies sources.

In another incident in April this year, an independent election candidate, Abdul Fateh Magsi, and three other persons from Balochistan’s Jhal Magsi area were killed by unknown assailants, prompting the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone the elections in the areas PB -32 constituency.

The residence of PML-N candidate Zubaida Jalal, who was contesting for a National Assembly seat (NA-272 Kech-Gwadar, also came under attack in Mand and a school building in Kohlu where a polling station had to be established was blown up.
