MONACO: Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer cruised into the quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters on Thursday.

The in-form duo defeated the British pairing of Colin Fleming and Jonathan Marray in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 in the Principality in just under an hour.

Aisam and Rojer, coming off their win in the Sony Open, were in supreme form as they gave no chance to opponents.

They will next face Serbia’s Nenad Zimonjic and France’s Julien Benneteau who reached the last-eight after beating the Australian-Brazilian pair, Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares 7-6 (9-7), 6-4.

Meanwhile, Aisam’s victory in Miami has catapulted him into the top ten of the ATP World Ranking List of Doubles players.

He is the top Asian player in the list with his partner Rojer one spot ahead of him in eighth.

The Sony Open victory has also helped the duo improve their doubles world ranking from 21 to fourth.—Agencies
