PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials raided the house of the arrested Budget Officer Javed Khan of the Central Police Office on Wednesday morning and seized Rs41.2 2 million along with weapons of various bores.

The official sources told Dawn.com thatsome serving and retired police officers are were likely to face the music in the weapon purchase scam as  some vital informationwas revealed by the arrested accused during the interrogation

The NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa media Cell spokesman Col Waheedullah told Dawn.Com that the NAB's SP Inayat Khan along with the local police and other officers raided the house of Javed Khan and have recovered 41.2 2 million and added that, “Kalashnikov and some pistols have been seized during the raid.”

He said that the arrested budget officer Javed Khan and the contractor Arshad  Majeed have revealed further information during interrogation and names of many other serving and retired police officers are also included in the interrogation. The two were arrested by NAB last week in Rs7 billion weapons purchase case for their alleged misappropriation in the deal.

“I would say the information extracted from the accused have revealed that the both serving and some retired police officers also have a role in the weapon purchase scam and huge loss has been inflicted on the national exchequer but at this stage we are probing more before making any arrests,” Col Waheedullah said.

“I can’t name the officers at this stage but Its likely we shall be making more arrests soon, and there are names of some high ranking officers as well, but we have to make it certain that these officers, officials are involved before taking them to task,” he replied to another query.
