Different cultures,different calendars

The cover story, Different cultures, different calendars by Ahzam Ahmed (YW, January 5, 2013) was very interesting. It provided us with useful knowledge about various calendars used in different ages. I request the YW team to publish more such informative articles.

My patriotic resolutions

The feature My patriotic resolutions by Syeda Bintay Zainab (YW, January 5, 2013) was awesome. The writer beautifully defined what we are responsible for as a citizen. It’s true that at the beginning of New Year we promise to improve ourselves, but we don’t give any consideration to our country. It too, needs care and attention. So from now, we must make resolutions for the betterment of our homeland and making resolutions is not enough — we must try our best to implement what we plan.

Embrace the new!

This is with reference to a short piece Embrace the new! by Mariha Ghazal (January 5, 2013). I agree with the writer’s point of view that it’s useless to hold grudges, we must embrace the new beginning.

Our future is always more important than our past, so instead of wasting our time, energy and emotions on thinking about what has been passed, we must concentrate on our future.

Beat the winter blues

Winter is my favourite season but sometimes due to lack of proper care, I can’t enjoy it fully because the cold weather gives flu and other ailments. Therefore, taking care of our health is very important in winter if we want to enjoy it fully.

The article Beat the winter blues by Gulrukh Tausif (YW, January 5, 2013) was really a wonderful piece that carried useful advice on how we can take better care of ourselves in the cold weather.

I appreciate the writer’s effort of penning down such a comprehensive article on this important topic.

New Year celebrations around the world

The photos published in the January 5 issue of Young World, depicting the New Year’s celebrations around the world were simply amazing. I was enthralled to see such beautiful fireworks. It is indeed true that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Instead of publishing long articles, I would advise you to carry more such pictorial sections. They not only enhance the magazine’s beauty, but also help young readers understand things easily.

Art corner

Of all the sections in the Young World magazine, my favourite is Art corner. It gives the young artists an opportunity to showcase their skills.

I request you to give more space to this section — instead of just a half page; you can give it sometimes a full page or a centre-spread. It will encourage more children to send their art work to your magazine.

Quiz

The Quiz section is a great addition to the magazine. It always improves our knowledge. I request you to continue this column and carry more interesting and informative themes every week.
