THE murder of a man at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi has once again raised many eyebrows. The incident shows that the killers were not afraid of the police or security officials.
Unidentified armed men carrying a gun sprayed bullets on the patient who died on the spot in the emergency department of the hospital. In the CCTV footage, it is also shown that a CNG rickshaw came almost inside the emergency ward of the hospital where killers opened fire and then fled the scene in front of the Rangers while hiding their weapons. The Rangers did not even try to catch them.
This incident shows the actual situation in Karachi. If the biggest hospital of the city is not safe, no other place can be. If there is any record of this CNG rickshaw, the murderers can easily be caught. The record of the weapons used in this murder will perhaps be not available as there are thousands of illegal weapons in the city.
The CCTV footage of the murderers should be matched with Nadra records to identify the culprits. But there is a possibility that if the images of the culprits are matched by chance, the address of the culprits will be wrong.
The above things are very much possible, so there is a remote chance that culprits will be arrested. Because of these issues, hundreds of murderers are still at large.
However, if these factors are dealt with, this type of deadly incidents can be avoided in future. The security officer, who was on duty at the time of the murder at the hospital, should be suspended. The Rangers personnel who were at the place while the killer escaped in front of them should also be suspended for showing lack of responsibility.
The SHO of the area where the JPMC is located should also be suspended as the police failed to reach the place on time.
However, I am quite sure that nothing will happen in this case. The media will raise its voice for some time but it will be forgotten soon after another tragic incident.
