ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday claimed that the federal government led by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had not only alleviated food shortage but had also improved the farmers’ conditions, DawnNews reported.

Speaking at an event of the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL), the prime minister said the PPP government had made the country self-sufficient in food. Pakistan has become an exporter of wheat, he added.

He further said that the critics of the PPP-led government had forgotten that the party had governed Pakistan for five years with 144 seats. He assured that the upcoming general elections would be free, fair and transparent.

Prime Minister Ashraf moreover vowed to eliminate terrorism from the country and said the current government had controlled the problem to a great extent. He added that along with a government’s mistakes, a government’s achievements should also be highlighted.
