The Federal Finance Division and the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR) are reportedly contesting a human rights case No. 43650-P/2011 in the Supreme Court of Pakistan under Article 184(3) of the Constitution which pertains to enforcement of Article 25(1) of the Constitution to allow similar facility to all pensioners after 15 years of retirement as provided to a couple of pensioners. These have been allowed to get annual increments on their restored portion of commuted pension by the Apex Court while other pensioners at large are denied the same facility.
They are running from pillar to post in the courts to follow their cases while the Finance Division treats the two cases in person and not allow similar treatment to other pensioners in the same boat.
It has now transpired that the Balochistan Finance Department has directed the Accountant General Balochistan to allow the same increase to its pensioners i.e. doubling their pension by 15 years after retirement.
It appears the left hand of the government is not aware what its right hand is doing. This is a grave anomaly in the financial affairs, and that must to be rectified to allow equal treatment of pensioners before law.
