ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs here on Wednesday directed Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) to submit the detail report on Audit Paras of top 10 organisations observed.

The committee, which met with Senator Nasreen Jalil in chair, said that the report of those 10 organisations whose maximum audit para observed for the past 3 years should be presented.

The additional auditor general of Pakistan (AAGP) told the committee that the AGP has carried out the audit of approximately 9000 federal, provincial and districts entities.

The audited outlays totalled up to Rs 4.474 trillion representing revenue receipts, disbursements and expenditure, he said adding the recovery of about Rs 25.72 billion was made at the instance of audit in 2011-12.

The expenditure for recovery of said amount was Rs 2.424 billion during 2011-12 while the recovery about Rs 70.64 billion was made during 2010-11 on the expenditure of Rs 1.59 billion, the AADG informed the committee.

The committee was further informed that there were still some organisations denying for audit to be conducted by AAGP.

Senator Sughra Imam said that the deadlock of audit paras was forwarded to current government because of weak working of previous government to resolve pending audit paras.

All observed audit paras are to be handed over to PAC to settle, the committee was further informed adding that Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had option to take up latest audit paras observed by the AGP or earlier.

Currently, the PAC is discussing audit paras of 2006-7 observed by the AGP, the committee was told.

The meeting was attended by Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, Osman Saifullah Khan, Syeda Sughra Imam and Islamuddin Shaikh.
