RAWALPINDI, Oct 31: Federal Minister for Textiles, Makhdoom Shahabuddin on Wednesday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi bench, against the freezing of his inherited land.

Makhdoom Shahab filed the petition through his counsel Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and LHC division bench would take up the petition on Thursday.

The petition cited Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) regional director and assistant director (assets investigation), district officer and sub registrar (revenue) of Rahimyar Khan as respondents.

Makhdoom Shahab adopted in the petition that the ANF authorities without giving him any notice had sent a letter to district officer and sub registrar Rahimyar Khan in which it asked them not to allow sale or transfer of any of his land without prior permission of ANF.

According to the petition, ANF assistant director (assets investigation) Naeemuddin on June 22 asked the revenue officials of Rahimyar Khan to provide details of property owned by Makhdoom Shahab, his relatives and friends.

The revenue office in response to said letter provided the ANF details of his property, according to which Makhdoom Shahab owned his inherited land only and did not purchase any property during the past few years, the petition added.

The petition said that after the ANF directions, Makhdoom Shahab or any of his family members could not sell their inherited land or transfer it to others name.

It requested the court to declare the ANF letter of June 22 as illegal and allowed the petitioner the sale and transfer of his land.

It may be pertinent to mention that ANF on June 22 also asked 20 banks to freeze the accounts of Makhdoom Shahab and his other family members.

LHC on Oct 4 had sought Anti Narcotics Force’s reply on freezing the bank accounts of Makhdoom Shahab and the matter would also be taken up by LHC bench on Thursday.
