THE T20 matches were a big step towards reviving cricket in Pakistan. Dr Mohammad Ali Shah took the initiative of inviting foreign players to play in Pakistan despite security threats.

The point of this venture was to prove that the issue of security is not a problem in Pakistan.

All went in vain when I went to see the first T20 international along with my friends.

We had tickets for Majid Khan enclosure but we opted for going through another gate because it was too crowded.

As we entered from another gate, all we saw were people climbing onto the stadium.

We followed the crowd and ended up landing in the stadium without being checked. Even our tickets were not checked and thousands of people were pouring into the stadium this way.

Once we were inside the stadium, we saw people climbing over the barbed wire fences to get into the enclosure they wished.

There were no security personnel in the enclosures to stop any mishaps. Soon the fences were broken. As if this was not enough, people started climbing up the stands and went on the roof, risking their and others’ life. Anyone could have easily targeted the International World XI team members.

If this is the foolproof security the organisers provided to the foreign teams, then I am sorry to say that we do not need international cricket back in Pakistan.
