KARACHI: Kaleemullah’s rich vein of form continued on Tuesday as Khan Research Laboratories defeated Pakistan Navy 2-1 in the Pakistan Premier Football League.

On a day in which four matches were played, Wohaib FC edged Baloch FC 1-0, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) beat National Bank 3-1and Zarai Tarqaiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) played out a goalless draw.

Kallemullah’s goal-scoring exploits, which have seen him net 15 goals in six games, continued against Navy at the Railways Football Stadium in Lahore as his goals in the 44th and 81st minutes gave the defending champions a 2-0 lead before Jabbar’s strike in the 84th reduced their margin of victory.

The win helped KRL increase their lead at the top to four points and they have 37 from 15 games. KESC are second with 33 points while Army and PAF are two points behind on 31.

NBP had a good chance to go to 32 points but their defeat to PAF at Peshawar’s PAF Complex Ground left them on 29.

Mohammad Arif Nawaz gave Army a 29th minute lead but Ahmed Shahzad leveled for NBP in the 73rd. PAF responded seven minutes later after Irfan Ali scored before Rai Akmal scored an own goal to ensure PAF of all three points.

Arsal’s strike in the 29th minute was the winner for Wohaib FC as they went level with their opponents Baloch FC on eight points on the foot of the table.

The stalemate between ZTBL and HBL at the Jinnah Football Stadium in Islamabad helped ZTBL to 15 points from 15 games while HBL have 16 from as many games.
