LAHORE, Oct 13: The Pakistan People’s Party on Saturday submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly against Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for allowing Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to launch a tirade against the constitutional head of the province, Governor Sardar Latif Khosa.

Through the resolution, PPP deputy parliamentary leader Shaukat Basra said Rana Sana had the patronage of the chief minister for bad mouthing and leveling baseless allegation against the governor.

Mr Basra said the law minister had launched propaganda against the governor to achieve vested interest. He said the house condemned the language Rana Sana used to level baseless allegations against the constitutional head of the province. The house demanded that he (Sana) should be refrained from bad mouthing the governor.

Talking to reporters, Mr Basra said Rana Sana had provided shelter to criminals in Punjab and was patronizing banned outfits.

He said: “Rana Sana is responsible for the assassination of Salmaan Taseer as he used to issue provocative statements against him.” He said Sana also got prepared a special branch’s fabricated report about a plot to assassinate former Lahore High Court chief justice Khwaja Sharif to malign the PPP government.

He requested the chief justice of Pakistan to take suo motu of Sana’s ‘irresponsible’ statements as such a person was not fit to hold such an important portfolio.
