The economic slowdown and rising inflation adds to the difficulties of the artisans to do proper business ahead of the Durga Puja festival to be celebrated in October. The event commemorates the slaying of a demon king Mahishasur by goddess Durga, marking the triumph of good over evil. The five-day Hindu festival of Durga Puja will begin on Oct. 20 and end on Oct. 24 with the immersion of idols in water bodies.

Dawn is the most secular news paper I have ever read and this comes from an Indian. To think that a Pakistani news paper bothers about Indian Hindu festivals itself is surprising. Thank you Dawn...hope you continue being secular.
