MANSEHRA, Sept 28: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that his party would resist any move by the government to postpone coming general election.

“We would not allow President Asif Ali Zardari to postpone the coming elections as it would be unconstitutional and against national interest,” said Mr Sharif while speaking to reporters here in Oghi on Friday.

Mr Sharif, who had come to offer fateha for the departed soul of wife of his servant Abdul Hameed in Doggai area in Oghi, said that if the government was thinking of any such unconstitutional step (postponement of general election) it should think hundred times about it, as “neither his party nor the people of Pakistan would allow them to go for any extra-unconstitutional step”.

Answering a question, the PML-N president said that it would be premature to say whether or not his party would go for an election alliance with any political party in coming election.

“We will do what would be in the interest of country and its people, but it is premature to say anything about alliance with any party for coming election,” he said.

In reply to a question, the former prime minister claimed that there was no rift in his party ranks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

‘TEACHERS’ LOSE JOB: Executive district officer (education), Torghar, has terminated services of six more teachers who had secured appointment on bogus degrees and certificates.

A source in the department said that the EDO on Friday issued termination orders of six teachers, including three female, and asked them to deposit salaries they had received so far.

About 14 female teachers and a junior clerk were terminated last week after their degrees and certificates were found bogus during verification from the boards and universities concerned.

The education department started the action after receiving complaints from different quarters.

The attackers also shot injured Qari Mohammad, brother of the slain woman, and fled the scene.

Police said that the bodies were handed over to relatives after autopsy at King Abdullah Teaching Hospital.
