LAHORE, Sept 17: The Pakistan People’s Party Punjab will hold first local body convention on Sept 30 in the city to press the PML-N government to hold the poll before the general elections.

The decision was taken at the Punjab PPP executives’ meeting here on Monday with Imtiaz Safdar Warriach in the chair. After Lahore, local body conventions would be held in other districts of the province.

It said former nazims and councillors across the province would attend the convention and press the Punjab government not to run away from holding the local body election. It said the PML-N was delaying the polls as it wanted to misappropriate the local government funds.

The meeting also adopted two resolutions, condemning the blasphemous film and praying for the victims of fire incidents in Karachi and Lahore.

Participants in the meeting said the PPP would not accept the court’s decision against the prime minister.
