PESHAWAR, Aug 29: Police arrested former husband of Pashto singer Ghazala Javed, who was shot dead along with her father two months ago, during a raid on his residence at Hindki Daman area of Peshawar on Wednesday.

He said that other accused in the case including Salam Khan were still at large. Salam belonged to Shahkas area of Khyber Agency and efforts were underway to arrest him with the help of political administration, he said.

“He (Jahangir) is not ready to confess to the crime but we are interrogating him. There is no disclosure for the time being,” the official said.

Another official of Khan Raziq police station said that the accused denied involvement in the murder of the singer as she had already got separation from her through a court verdict.

Ghazala Javed had married Jahangir on Feb 7, 2010 and separated from him on Dec 4, 2011 through the verdict of a family court in Swat, where she had filed an application for the purpose.
