LAHORE: The Special Judge Central on Wednesday granted interim bail to former principal secretary to chief minister Punjab, Tauqeer Shah and personal staff officer Talha Burki, involved in former LHC chief justice Khwaja Sharif’s alleged murder conspiracy, till September 7.

Earlier, the petitioners' counsel Khawaja Harris submitted before the court that the accused did not have any connection with the conspiracy and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered a bogus case against them.

The counsel submitted that the accused wanted to join the investigation to unveil the truth, therefore, interim bail be granted to the petitioners.

Special Judge Central Farooq Altaf after hearing arguments granted interim bail to the accused till September 7.

The accused were alleged to hatch a conspiracy to produce a false and fabricated intelligence report in a bid to create differences among the federal government, provincial government and judiciary.

Earlier, a Lahore High Court Single bench granted protective bail to both the accused till August 30 directing them to approach the concerned court.
