Statement by hockey coach

Published Aug 19, 2012 08:38pm

THIS is apropos of the appalling statement made by Khwaja Junaid, the Pakistan Hockey coach. He said, after Pakistan finished 7th in the London Olympics, that at least ‘we did better than India and our future is bright’.

Why are we so India-centric in everything? Do we really think that for us the world begins and ends with India? I think the coach should have apologised to the nation and resigned instead of gloating that Pakistan ranked highest in Asia.

Very true. There are a lot of things India is better at than Pakistan. Not only that, in these very Olympics, India at least bagged a few medals while Pakistan got nothing. Even some of the Central Asian states picked up medals. It is time for Pakistan to stop worrying about how India is doing and start concentrating on how Pakistan can improve its performance.

It is the cheap comments from an Olympian. It shows how third graded persons are appolinted to this job.
