LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday ruled that uniform load-shedding be carried out in all four provinces, DawnNews reported.

The court issued the ruling during the hearing of a petition filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique against load-shedding in the duration of Sehri and Iftaar.

During the hearing, Chief Justice LHC Umar Ata Bandial ruled that no province should be discriminated against on the issue of load-shedding and that it should be carried out on a uniform basis.

In his petition, Siddique had stated that incidents of power theft were more frequent in other provinces as opposed to Punjab, adding that, consumers in Punjab were still paying more than those in other provinces.

The court moreover issued notices to the federal government, the Ministry for Water and Power and distribution companies for August 7.
