ISLAMABAD, July 6: Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) Islamabad on Friday announced result of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-I (Grade 9) annual examination, 2012, with a success rate of 57.17 per cent.

According to the FBISE spokesperson, 73,723 students had submitted applications for the exam however, of them 72,960 took it. As many as 41,711 students were declared successful and 31,212 students failed to get the passing marks.

The examination had commenced on March 20 and concluded on April 20. In Science group, a total of 51,504 students (32,304 male and 19,200 female students) took the exam. In all 34,534 students succeeded in securing 67.05 per cent marks while 16,954 of them failed.

In Humanities group 9,292 students appeared, out of which there were 1,834 male students and 7,458 females. Of them 4,668 students passed the examination by scoring 50.24 per cent marks and 4,622 students got failed.

As far as the private and ex-candidates were concerned, in Science group 8,136 students appeared out of whom 1,798 were declared successful and 6,325 were declared failures. Percentage of students who passed in the exam remained around 22.10 per cent.

Similarly in Humanities group, 4,028 private candidates took the exam, out of which 711 were declared to have passed while 3,311 were declared to have failed it. Percentage of their result remained 17.65 per cent.

Overall 10,631 students could not make it after failing in one subject, 7,121 failed in two subjects and 4,954 were declared unsuccessful due to failure in three subjects.

During annual exam, 18 unfair means cases (UMCs) were reported and 8 of them have already been decided. “A judicious procedure was adopted in deciding the cases and personal hearing was allowed to all concerned,” the federal board spokesperson claimed.—Ikram Junaidi
