RAWALPINDI: At least a person was killed and eight others injured when a two-storey under construction building collapsed in Gang village of Chauntra, a rural area of Rawalpindi, on Thursday.

According to police sources, around ten laborers were carrying out the construction work when the roof caved in. Local people carried out the initial rescue operation. Rescue workers took some time to reach the site of incident which is located about 40 kilometres from Rawalpindi.

One laborer Muhammad Aslam (45), a resident of Mayal village, died on the spot. The injured were immediately shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital.

The Chief Medical Officer of said all the injured brought to the hospital were in stable condition.
