LAHORE, June 11: The Alhamra Art Centre on The Mall was a vibrant place on Monday evening, as two exhibitions opened here.

A large number of young people visited the place to see the works put on display by various artists.

An exhibition of photographs titled ‘Lens Journey Team’ was organised by Tourism Development Corporation Punjab and inaugurated by Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood and Tourism Secretary Haroon Ahmed Khan.

The idea behind the photography exhibition was to promote soft image of Pakistan and the TDCP. National College of Arts graduates Obaid-ur-Rehman and Naeem Jatoi travelled to different areas of Pakistan to document country’s beauty through the lens of the camera.

Rehman told Dawn that they toured different parts of the country, but could not visit Balochistan because the government did not allow them to do due to the law and order situation. He said they took about 10,000 pictures during their journey to discover Pakistan and put 45 of them on display at Alhamra.

TDCP got the tour sponsored and facilitated by a cellular company, says a tourism official.

The photographers captured Lake Saif-ul-Muluk, Shandur Valley, Baltit Fort, Multan Fort, Hunza, Katas Raj, Rohtas Fort and a number of other sites.

The exhibition will continue till June 15. Also, the exhibition of artworks titled ‘Art Beat’ by Little Art, a-not-for-profit organisation opened at Alhamra Art Centre.
