KARACHI: Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and India's Rohan Bopanna reached the men’s doubles quarter-finals at the US Open after brushing aside the Australian-Belgian pair of Paul Hanley and Dick Norman  6-2, 6-3.

The fifth seeded Indo-Pak pair will now face the unseeded pair of Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins of Great Britain who got a walkover from their match with Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez of Spain.

Qureshi and Bopanna had earlier beaten Robby Ginepri and Rhyne Williams in the first round and James Cerretani and Philipp Marx in the second round.

The pair finished as runners-up in the men’s doubles event at the US Open last year.

Well done Aisam and Rohan. Keep working hard. You both are putting politicians on both sides of the border to shame which they deserve.

With the 1st and 2nd seeds already out of the tournament, this is the year to win it. If not now, it will be never, as they are not getting any younger. Regardless, they both are the pride of India and Pakistan respectively. Let 1.3 billion minds think positively, and who knows, they just might pull it of. Best of luck boys!
