QUETTA: A strike was observed in different parts of the province on Thursday in response to a call of the Baloch National Front to condemn the assassination of Prof Ghulam Hussain Saba Dashtiari of the Balochistan University.

Prof Dashtiari was shot dead by unidentified attackers on Wednesday.

The strike was observed in Gwadar, Panjgur, Turbat, Buleda, Tump, Dasht and Hub towns with the business community keeping markets closed to pay homage to the late professor.

The Balochistan University remained closed on Thursday and the Academic Staff Association announced mourning for three days.

The Baloch National Front, Baloch Liberation Front, Baloch National Voice, Baloch Women Panel, Balochistan National Party (Mengal), National Party, Baloch Bar Association, all three factions of the Baloch Student Organisations, Baloch Students and Baloch Rights Council Front condemned the murder.
