MIRAMSHAH, May 6: Thirteen people were killed and four others wounded in a US drone attack in Datakhel area of North Waziristan on Friday, sources said.

It was the first attack by the unmanned aircraft in the tribal area since US Navy SEALs killed Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden in a secret raid on a compound in Abbottabad on May 2.

(According to Reuters, 17 suspected militants were killed in the attack carried out by four drones on Friday.)The sources said that drones fired missiles into a compound used as a seminary and a nearby restaurant. Drones kept flying over the area throughout the day.

According to reports, six missiles were fired at the seminary and two hit the small restaurant in Datakhel near Afghan border. A car parked near the restaurant was damaged.

The sources said that 13 bodies were retrieved from the debris. Four wounded people were taken to a clinic in the area.—Pazir Gul
