ISLAMABAD, March 19: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf’s chief Imran Khan has been booked along with some activists of his party and the Jamaat-i-Islami for ‘stealing police helmets’ after putting up resistance during a demonstration against the release of Raymond Davis.

The case was registered on the complaint of Additional Station House Officer of Aabpara police station, Sub-inspector Mansha Hussain, who stated that Imran Khan, along with his supporters, staged a protest at Aabpara Chowk and violently put up resistance against the policemen deployed there for maintaining law and order.

The protesters, including the PTI chief, attacked the policemen in a bid to enter a highly sensitive area and march towards the US embassy, the police official said. Later, the protesters, including Imran Khan, snatched two helmets of policemen and took them away, he alleged.

The Aabpara police registered a case under the Pakistan Penal Code’s Sections 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to commit the theft), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) against Imran Khan, Mohammad Azhar Mir, Sajad Khan, Hassan Javed, Noor Bashir, Sardar Mahtab and Umar Butt.

However, no arrest has been made.
