Five more die in Indian firing

ISLAMABAD, May 23: Five more civilians including a woman were killed and 16 others injured as the Indian army continued “unprovoked and indiscriminate” firing across the Line of Control and working boundary, a defence official said.

The areas which came under Indian shelling on Thursday were Bhimbher, Kotli, Rawalakot, Abbaspur and Hajira sectors in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release said.

According to reports reaching here two shopkeepers were killed and two others injured critically when Indian troops opened indiscriminate shelling last night at Dhar Bazar, which is about two kilometres from the LoC Rawalakot sector.

The Indian troops used automatic weapons, recoilles rifles, mortars and rocket launchers in this area.

In another incident a woman was killed in the same area due to unprovoked firing and shelling of the enemy troops.

In Nakyal sector, a young man Mohammad Rasheed was killed in Mohra Dharotti village of Kotli sector. In Smahni sector of Bhimbher district a nine-year old boy was killed, three other children, four women and a man were injured seriously. Injured were rushed to the nearby hospitals.

Pakistan Army responded to the unprovoked firing and shelling by the Indian troops and caused considerable damage to the enemy.
