SHEIKHUPURA: A man allegedly shot his wife dead and later threw the body into a canal near Narang Mandi, some 75 kilometres from here.

Abid and Muqaddas, residents of Dera Iftikhar near Narang Mandi, had got married of their own free will some time ago and started living separately. However, the couple developed differences soon and often engaged in arguments.

On Saturday night, the couple got into an argument again. Abid shot at Muqaddas in fury and later threw her body into a canal.

Locals spotted the body and called Rescue 1122 whose rescuers reached the spot the recovered it and sent it for autopsy.

Abid had fled from the scene after allegedly committing the crime.
