ISLAMABAD, Sept 23: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has promoted Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, Vice-Admiral Mohammad Afzal Tahir, to the rank of admiral and appointed him as the new naval chief, according to an official notification.
He will succeed Admiral Shahid Karimullah, who, according to informed sources, will be given ambassadorial responsibilities in an important country after his retirement on October 7.
