PESHAWAR: Eleven more Covid-19 positive cases were detected in educational institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including universities, on Saturday, bringing the total number of positive cases to 32 during the past three days.

According to a health department report, two patients with coronavirus were diagnosed in Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Women University, Peshawar, and one from a privately-run Sarhad University, Ring Road Peshawar.

Five confirmed cases were reported from Kohat, including three from government higher secondary school in Kharmatu and two from government high school for boys in the same area.

Two cases were reported in Tangi tehsil of Charsadda, including one each from government high school No 1 and government high school No 2.

One patient was diagnosed with Covid-19 from a government high school in Upper Kurram.

The report said the screening process had been in progress, and so far 31 positive cases, including teachers, students and other employees, had been detected.

It said 4,946 tests had so far been conducted in public sector educational institutions since Sept 1.

Over 1,070 swabs had turned out to be negative while the outcome of 4,788 was awaited.

The positivity rate in public sector educational institutions is 1.5 per cent and that of private 0.5 per cent.
