SWABI: A local court here on Friday sentenced a man and his son to life imprisonment in a murder case, said officials.

Ibn-e-Amin, a Hafiz-i-Quran, was killed in July 2019 in Yar Hussain village and an FIR was registered against one Riaz Ali and his son Rehman Ali in the local police station. The police arrested the two accused in August last year.

On completion of arguments from both sides, additional sessions judge Attaullah Jan sentenced the two to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs200,000 which would be paid to the family of the victim as compensation.

The two convicts later said they would challenge the verdict in the Peshawar High Court.

Meanwhile, additional sessions judge Aamir Nazir acquitted two persons in a murder case for lack of evidence.

An FIR was registered in March 2018 against Sufaid Khan and a woman by wife of one Saeeduzaman who was killed in Yar Hussain. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court disposed of the case and ordered the jail superintendent to release the two accused.

KILLED: One person was killed and three were injured when two families plunged into their children’s clash over a

trivial issue in Malikabad village of Gadoon Amazai area.

Police said that Haqdar Shah was killed on the spot while Mohammad Salam, Mohammad Irshad and a woman were injured, who were taken to the THQ hospital, Topi.

The two families have registered FIRs against each other in the local police station.

HOUSE GUTTED: A house of a poor farmer was gutted in Gandaf village on Friday, said Rescue 1122 officials.

They said the fire broke out in the house of one Sher Alam Khan due to electric short-circuit.

The Rescue 1122 officials and local people rushed to the site, but by then all belongings of the poor person were burnt to ashes.

However, no casualties were reported.

The residents have demanded of the district administration to extend financial help to the poor farmer.
