RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Waste Management Authority (RWMC) on Wednesday washed several roads, streets and bazaars of the city with chlorinated water for disinfection.

Some areas that were disinfected include Murree Road, Pirwadhai Road, Jamia Masjid Road, G.T. Road, The Mall, Main Bazaar Kahuta, Arya Mohallah, Gujar Khan.

RWMC Managing Director Awais Manzoor Tarrar said that mechanical sweeping and washing was also done.

The drain on Chaudhry Ashraf bridge at Arya Mohallah was cleared and line marking was done with appropriate social distancing between citizens in general stores, medical stores, banks and other areas in Union Council (UC) 43 Dhoke Khabba, UC 28, Pirwadhai Road, Taxila and Kahuta.

He said that workers have been deployed at Arid University, Gordon College, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Viqar Nisa College and isolation andquarantine centres to ensure cleaning.

He visited these centres to inspect the sanitation situation and informed workers about preventive measures against coronavirus (Covid-19).

He said hands must be washed repeatedly and elbows or tissues must be used to cover the mouth in case of coughing or sneezing.
