GUJRANWALA: The Aroop police registered a case on Sunday against a sub-inspector (SI) and four constables on allegations of thrashing two lawyers in Garden Town.

Muaz Afzal Bhinder advocate, along with a number of lawyers, submitted an application with the station house officer, stating that he along with his elder brother, Saad Afzal Bhinder advocate, was going to market. In the meantime, some unidentified persons made them sit them in their vehicle and Sub-Inspector Hassan posted at Baghbanpura Police Station along with four constables tortured them.

The complainants alleged that the policemen and other unidentified suspects were trying to take them on to unknown place when the locals gathered and saved them.

The police registered a case against SI Hassan and others on the complaint.

KITE STRING: Two persons were injured by the string of stray kites in separate incidents here.

According to Rescue 1122, Khuram, 15, of Sardar Colony was travelling on a motorcycle when a sharp string cut his neck.

In another incident, Sabir Ali, 48, was on the way to his home on a motorcycle when a kite string cut his fingers and neck near Kangniwala Bypass.

Both the injured persons were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

DROWNS: A minor boy drowned in a canal near Nowshera Virkan. Zain Rizwan, 3, came to meet his maternal family in Abidabad village from Kamoki. He was playing on the bank of the canal near the house of his hosts and fell into it. A passer-by brought him out. He was shifted to THQ Hospital Nowshera Virkan but he could not survive.
