KARACHI: The foundation stone-laying ceremony of a new block of the department of health, physical education and sports sciences at Karachi University (KU) was held on the campus on Thursday.
The block would be dedicated to DPT (doctor of physical therapy) programme currently being conducted at the old computer science building.
Speaking at the ceremony, department chairperson Dr Basit Ansari said the dream of the new building would be materialised with the support of Aftab Memorial Welfare Association and the project was planned to be completed in one and a half years.
“The current building doesn’t have much space to facilitate a large number of students. Over the past three years, we have witnessed a demand for this field and many students want to get the DPT degree,” he told the audience.
Acting KU Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Iraqi said the scope of professional degrees was expanding as challenges in professional fields had grown over time.
He urged students to avail the facilities available on campus and learn from the experiences of faculty members.
